Lakers Draft Julius Randle with 7th Pick
With the 7th pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, the Los Angeles Lakers selected Kentucky Foward Julius Randle. He’s a 6′ 9″ power forward that is looking to help the team instantly. He averaged 15 points and 10.4 rebounds a game and help Kentucky reach the NCAA Championship game. There were rumors that he had foot issues that were needing to be fixed which could have led to him dropping down to the 7th pick. He had seen a foot specialist in LA that cleared him for play without surgery.
Upon being drafted Randle showed that he’s got an edge to him by exclaiming that he wants to make the teams that passed on him regret it by how well he performs in the NBA. Randle really impressed the Lakers in their workouts that they had with him and his competitiveness was a factor that they really admired. The Lakers had felt he would be drafted higher than the 7th pick and were very happy that he fell to them and that he would be a great fit. He is looking to also improve his 3 point shooting early on as a way to expand his game so that he can provide yet another scoring threat to his game. He’s got a polished post game and can finished strong, but with finesse around the rim. As long as Randle is able to get his rookie contract signed by July 11th, we will get an early look at him in the NBA summer league.
