Trade Rumor Sending Kevin Love + Martin to Golden State For Thompson + Lee + 1st
Mychael Thompson was on ESPN710 today and said that he is hearing that there are talks to send his son, Klay Thompson to the Minnesota Timberwolves along with David Lee and a future first round pick for Kevin Martin and Kevin Love.
This potential trade also have Laker implications as the Lakers have hoped to be a destination for Kevin Love either via trade or through a free agent signing. It would most likely be a combination of both and would be a sign & trade between the Lakers and Minnesota and other teams could potentially be involved as well. While the Lakers have kept quiet about an exact focus for free agency or other players they’re look at, many have speculated that they are targeting Kevin Love. A trade involving one of their main targets could shift their focus elsewhere and have them consider other options.
As for the implications to the rest of the league, this trade would be a blockbuster. Who do you think would benefit the most from this trade? In my opinion Minnesota would ‘win’ the trade only due to the fact that Kevin Love is seemingly looking to leave regardless and this would give them a much better return than him simply walking. Aside from that fact though, I think the trade is fairly even.
Adrian Wojnarowski from Yahoo.com is reporting that many teams feel like Flip Saunders isn’t wanting to yet make a trade and are still taking phone calls and offers for Kevin Love. Other potential deals or rumored offers haven’t been reported, but one would have to imagine many are working out their best offer for a player as game changing as Kevin Love.
